HISTORICAL SKETCH
Islamabad Convent School (ICS) is one of the leading missionary educational institutions in the Federal Capital, committed to academic excellence, moral values and service. The school was established on 17 December 1975 when the Ministry of Education approved the opening of a junior school in Islamabad under the administration of the Religious of Jesus and Mary (RJM). The school initially operated from a rented house at House No. 7, Street 8, F-8/3, Islamabad, with Sister Mary Sales Timlin, RJM, serving as its first administrator. In March 1992, the Congregation of the Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM) assumed responsibility for the school’s management at the invitation of the Apostolic Nuncio, Most Reverend Luigi Bressan and the Bishop of Islamabad-Rawalpindi, Most Reverend Simeon Pereira. Throughout their tenure, the RVM Sisters made a lasting impact by championing quality education and nurturing character through the guiding principles of Unity, Discipline and Service.
In April 2016, the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine of Siena (OP) answered the call of the Late Bishop Rufin Anthony and took on the school’s mission in Pakistan’s capital. The year 2017 marked a proud milestone as ICS celebrated its Silver Jubilee – 25 years of educational excellence in the gracious presence of Archbishop Dr. Joseph Arshad. Since assuming leadership, the OP Sisters have steered ICS to outstanding academic achievements, including top rankings in DBE SSC examinations, multiple distinctions in O Levels, and a prestigious World Distinction in 2022. Their unwavering commitment to academic rigor, discipline and the all-round development of students has firmly established ICS as a cherished center of learning, faith and service.
Today, Islamabad Convent School operates under the Diocesan Board of Education (DBE) of the Islamabad–Rawalpindi Diocese, led by Archbishop Dr. Joseph Arshad. As it moves forward, ICS remains deeply thankful to every bishop, clergy member, sister, principal, teacher, parent, and alumnus whose devotion has helped forge this institution into an enduring legacy of knowledge, values, and service for generations to come.
